As part of the international educational project Erasmus+ “Positive Discipline in European Schools”, students and teachers of our school took part in a partnership meeting in North Macedonia. The program of the stay was rich and diverse, combining educational, integration and cultural elements.
At the beginning, the participants of the project were warmly welcomed by the host school. The official opening ceremony was an excellent opportunity to learn about the traditions of this country. During their stay, the students took part in sports and integration activities, which were conducive to building relationships and overcoming language barriers. Joint workshops on creative writing, inspired by images depicting emotions, allowed participants to express themselves through the art of words. The following days were spent on the implementation of workshops devoted to issues such as communication, cooperation, empathy and social competences. Students took part, m.in, in classes “Nurse your emotion”, “See the face behind the label” and in workshops developing the ability to empathize with the situation of other people. These classes were aimed at shaping social and emotional competences and building understanding for diversity. In parallel, teachers participated in workshops and thematic sessions, such as demonstration lessons on cooperation and appreciation, mentoring and positive discipline meetings. During the meetings, progress was discussed and the next stages of cooperation were planned. The culminating moment of the trip was the ceremonial ceremony of awarding certificates and a joint dinner, which became a symbolic summary of the whole week full of learning, inspiration and international cooperation. Participants also had the opportunity to participate in sightseeing trips to Skopje and Ohrid. Visit the house of Mother Teresa, the historic old town, the Museum and other attractions of the capital, as well as get to know the charms of one of the most beautiful cities in Macedonia – Ohrid – during a guided walk.
The stay in North Macedonia was an extremely valuable experience, which allowed the participants not only to expand their knowledge and skills, but also to make new friends, understand a different culture and strengthen the sense of European community.
