On August 27, 2025, teachers of our school and parents of students involved in the project participated in the international conference summarizing the Erasmus+ Positive Discipline in European Schools project, which took place at the Onion House in Makó, Hungary. The event was of a hybrid nature, combining stationary presence with online broadcasting, and the language of the conference was English, with simultaneous translation into several European languages, including Polish.
The conference began with a welcome from the school’s headmaster, Krišina Majorosné Rácz. This was followed by a series of expert speeches. Krisztina Gaudry discussed how the Positive Discipline approach responds to the challenges related to the education of the young generation. Attendees listened to a special video message from Dr. Jane Nelsen, founder and pioneer of Positive Discipline. Olivier Sorel presented a reflection “Is Positive Discipline a Utopia or an Ideal?”, showing its importance in the light of research on child development. The discussion panel with the participation of representatives of schools from Polish, Portuguese and Hungary (Ewa Maria Chociej, Jose Cordeiro, Eszter Kinga Baráti) concerned school values and their convergence with the Positive Discipline model. Nadine Gaudin presented the tools of Positive Discipline in school practice, showing how they support the development of students’ life skills. The research team of the T-Tudok Center presented the results of research on the impact of the program on students and teachers. After the lunch break, the participants took part in breakout sessions, which allowed them to deepen their knowledge and exchange experiences. The day ended with the “AHA Moments” session, in which six schools shared their findings and conclusions from the project. A very important moment of the conference was the speech of the Director Ewa Maria Chociej and the project coordinator Agnieszka Kazberuk. They emphasized that thanks to participation in the project, our school gained better relations in the school community, teachers developed their educational skills, and cooperation with parents was strengthened. They also drew attention to the importance of cooperation between the school, the student and the family home, which is the basis for lasting educational and educational effects. It was a distinction for us, because we could present the experience of our school on the international forum.
The conference was also the last joint event of the project, giving the opportunity to summarize cooperation, exchange experiences and talks with partners from other countries. This meeting had a unique, somewhat ceremonial character, as it was the conclusion of two years of activities and efforts of the entire team. After the conference, we had the opportunity to spend a few moments in Budapest. A walk along the Danube, admiring the bridges, historical architecture and the unusual atmosphere of the city became a beautiful complement to the whole trip.
Participation in the conference in Makó was an extremely valuable experience for our school. It not only allowed us to summarize the activities of the Erasmus+ Positive Discipline in European Schools project, but also strengthened our belief that the implementation of Positive Discipline contributes to a real improvement in the quality of school life. The experience and contacts gained will certainly inspire further work for education based on respect, cooperation and responsibility.
